Robert enlisted at Plymouth, Ohio on October 27 1861 in Company "C"
65th regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was in nine hard fought
battles and was wounded at Stone River and again at Resacca. He was
Honorably discharged at Louisville, KY December 1864. He returned home
and took charge of the home farm. A few years later married and had
six children. He was a Methodist.

Robert Wilson Cory and Abigail M. Purkey were married on 17 Oct 1867 in New Washington, Crawford Co, OH. Abigail M. Purkey¹ was born on 25 Oct 1845 in Bloomville, Seneca Co, OH. She died on 26 Jan 1934 in ID. Robert Wilson Cory and Abigail M. Purkey had the following children:
