39. Benjamin Corey Jr. was born on 19 Feb 1752 in Mansfield, Tolland Co, CT. He lived in Sunderland, Bennington Co, VT in 1787. listed as Benjamin Jr. He lived in Shaftsbury, Bennington Co, VT in 1800. He signed a will on 7 Oct 1831. In it he named daughter Nancy who was to get half his landed prop. for her maintenance ans sons John S. and Rufus were to be guard. as she was "incompetent..." and could not care for herself. The other half was to be divided among other sons and daughters, viC: John S. Corey; Nathan Corey; Jonathan Corey; Rufus Corey; Hiram Corey; Sibyl Clark; Damaris Buckland; Charlotte Ensign. Execs. were John S. and Rufus who abdicated responsibilty so that in March of 1840 the Court notified heirs that a trustee was to be appointed. He died on 7 Dec 1831 in Shaftsbury, Bennington Co, VT. In the DAR linage books there is reference to an Ensign and later Sargent Benjamin Corey. This may be a son of Benjamin Cory for whom I only have one child. It is more likely the son of Benjamin Corey. He seems to have vanished from MA. His step bothers and sisters moved on to New Hampshire and he turns up in near-by Vermont.
