26. John Corey was born on 17 Jan 1749/50 in Sturbridge, Worcester Co, MA. He died on 24 Apr 1827 in Craftsbury, Orlean Co, VT. He is listed in the First Census, page 237. In there it says that in 1790, he was a head of household with one sone over 16, three under, and three females. In the census record his name is spelled Cory.

There are a number of deeds for him at Craftsbury, beginning in 1795 and ending in 1806.

He served in the Revolutionary War from Sturbridge as a private in Captain Timothy Parker's Company of Minutemen, Colonel Werner's regiment on the alarm of 19 April 1775. Also as a private in Captain Abel Mason's Company, Job Cushing's regiment, 16 August to 30 Nov 1777, also from Sturbridge.

John Corey and Mary Dodge had marriage banns published on 2 Aug 1772 in Sturbridge, Worcester Co, MA. They were married about 1773 in Brookfield, Worchester Co, MA. Mary Dodge died in Jun 1830 in Craftsbury, Orlean Co, VT. He name is sometimes listes as Mary Pettifall John Corey and Mary Dodge had the following children:
