4. Thomas Cory1 was born about 1661 in Portsmouth, Newport Co, RI. He died on 21 Mar 1738 in Tiverton, Newport Co, RI. He was an inhabitant at the time of the organization of Tiverton, Rhode Island, March 2, 1692. He was said to have inherited large estates there and was probably the first wealthy Corey in America. His will, dated September 23, 1734 and proved March 21, 1738, names his two sons, William and Philip as Executors. He left extensive lands and houses to his sons. He left his wife 100 pounds in money and 500 pounds to each of his daughters. His son Thomas was said to be educated in England. Sarah was probably the mother of all of the children.

To eldest son William, half of 120 acres in Pocasset, half of swamp lot and half of 60 acre lot, supposed to have been given him in his grandfathers will, which I confirm, also other land. To my grandson Thomas Cory, son of Thomas, of Dartmouth, deceased, 200 acres and housing, being homestead farm where my son Thomas lived, in Dartmouth, also 40 acres joining my brother-in-law Philip Taber, all to be at his age. To son Philip, homestead where I now live, in Tiverton, 120 acres and housing, two cows, and young cattle already in his hands, and half the sheep and profit of house and land given to grandson John, till said grandson is of age, Philip to bring John up to learning, till sixteen and then put him to trade. To daughter Patience Cory, 250 pounds in household goods, in consideration of what my other two daughters have already had, and of her present weakness, and also Indian boy Sam and Indian girl Dinah, till their time out. To daughter Mary Durfee, wife of Thomas, 600 pounds. To daughter Sarah Brown wife of Abraham 600 pounds. To daughter Patience 600 pounds. To Wife Susanah 100 pounds and if she happen to have a child or children, he or they to have lands in Tiverton and Dartmouth not given. To son Philip, cart, plow etc. To all children, rest of personal. To daughter Patience, house room firewood and keep of cow etc, till marriage, and ridding beast, all kept by son Philip. Inventory. 4,862 pounds, 15 shillings, 6 pence, viz: house apparel and books 41 pounds 3 shillings, 6 pence, pewter, 6 silver spoons, cheese press, bonds 2,955 pounds 4 shillings, 2 pence, meat cattle 29 pounds, horse kind 60 pounds, sheep 30 pounds, 397 acres wild land in sundrey places, 1 pound,16 shillings, 10 pence.

Thomas Cory and Sarah Taber were married about 1691. Sarah Taber1 (daughter of Philip Taber and Mary Cooke) was born on 26 Mar 1671 in Dartmouth, Bristol Co, MA. She died on 14 Feb 1731/32 in Tiverton, Newport Co, RI. BIOGRAPHY
Sarah was the Daughter of Philip and Mary (Cooke) Taber. Mary Cooke
was the daughter of John Cooke and Sarah (Warren) Cooke. John Cooke
was the son of Francis Cooke who came to America on the May Flower...
Sarah Warren was the daughter of Richard Warren who also came over on
the Mayflower....Thomas also married Susanna (Manchester) Cook, the
daughter of William and Mary (Cook) Manchester, the widow of John
Tabor. Thomas Cory and Sarah Taber had the following children:

Thomas Cory and Susanna Manchester were married on 24 Feb 1731/32. Susanna Manchester1 (daughter of William Manchester and Mary Cook) was born about 1680. She died.
