273. William Corey1 was born about 1743 in North Kingstown,
Washington Co, RI (Now Wickford). He served in the military between
Nov 1775 and Mar 1776.23
Capt. Eldad Spink (3 months) Minute man in North Kingston RI. Willson House
at Aquinesott Neck "guarding the shores of Naragansett Bay from an English
squadron" He served in the military between Feb 1777 and 12 Dec 1779.23 3 successive 9 month termsof
service-27 months total. Private in company of RI state tropps commanded by
Capt. Samuel Phillips in Col. John Topham's regiment at "Rowland's Ferry
& other places". "The rolls ..in War office show what protion
was performed as an artillerist under Capt. Garcia ..& as 'private of infanty'".
"Infantry part was stationed at Warwick; that artillery at the head of a
cove in that town". Israel Phillips 11 Aug 1837. He served in the military
between Apr 1781 and May 1783.23
25 month. Private. Commanded by Col. Green replaced wgeb dued ub action bt
/cik, Ikbet, "In August 1781 we broke camp & removed thru New York
to Philadelphia City from there to Brandywine & the head of the Elk River
to Yorktown in Birginia where we found the main army then engaged in beseiging
Yorktown. The said Wm. Corey was on duty in the regiment at the time. After
the surrender of Yorktown we returned to Philadelphia in the Winter. We remained
there until the 29th of ___ 1782 when we removed to the Highlands of the state
of New York..." testimony of Job Shearman, 8 sep 1848. He died on 9 Oct
1815 in Danby, Rutland Co, VT. William Corey and Martha Pierce were
married on 10 Jun 1771 in North Kingstown, Washington Co, RI (Now Wickford).
The marrage record included with the pension papers give the marrage place as
North Kingston. Martha Pierce1 (daughter of Benjamin Pierce) was born about 1744 in
Warwick, Kent Co, RI. She lived in Warwick, Kent Co, RI before 1795.
In 1795-6 they moved to Danby, Rutland Co, VT She died about 1837.
