Third Generation
13. John Cory Jr.1 was born in Sep 1687 in East Greenwich,
Kent Co, RI. He died after Mar 1768 in North Kingstown, Washington
Co, RI (Now Wickford). He lived in North Kingstown (now called Wickford),
Rhode Island. Hi s birth was also reported to have been in East Greenwich by
some sources. He died in the "Old Corey Farm House." See details about
the house and property in the notes with his father's entry. John Corey, Jr.'s
will was dated 16 March 1768.
On May 12, 1712, John Corey (II) deeded to John Corey (III) a house and land
at North Kingston.
There are some reports that he had two wives. Confusion arises even f urther
because their names were Mary Evans and Elizabeth Evans. If in fact he had two
wives both with the surname Evans, logic, based upon available information, would
suggest that Mary was his first wife or that his wife's name was Mary Elizabeth
or, on occasion, Elizabeth Mary. The most reliable records indicate only one
wife whose name was Elizabeth. John Cory Jr. and Elizabeth Mary Evans were
married about 1707 in North Kingstown, Washington Co, RI (Now Wickford).
Elizabeth Mary Evans1
was born about 1692 in North Kingstown, Washington Co, RI (Now Wickford).
Her place of birth, North Kingstown, is now called Wickford.
(See notes with spouse for further information.) She died in Oct 1766 in North
Kingstown, Washington Co, RI (Now Wickford). Some think that her
surname may have been "ANTHONY", as she had a son, Anthony. Some think
that it may have been "COGGESHELL" as a John Coggeshell confirmed a
deed to John Corey, declaring that he had given the land (90 acres) in East Greenwich,
to his son Daniel in his will. John Cory Jr. and Elizabeth Mary Evans had the
following children:
