Annual Meeting --- August 25-27, 2000
Ramada Inn and Conference Center
Newport News, VA.

Tours

Our host, Galen Moore, planned tours of Jamestown, Yorktown, Fort Monroe, and Cape Henry. Jamestown, founded in 1607, was the first English colony in North America.

Jamestown was the first English settlement in America.

Yorktown was the second colonial settlement in Virginia and the place where colonial rule ended in America.

Cape Henry is the site where the first English settlers in America disembarked from their ships.

There is a museum at Fort Monroe and a tower overlooks Hampton Roads where the battle between the "Monitor" and the "Merrimack" took place during the Civil War --- the first ever battle between ironclad ships.

The restored colonial town of Williamsburg was only 20.7 miles from our meeting place and many included it in our our itinerary.
